SMART Family and Friends @ VOCAL (ALTERNATE WEEKS) Open to the family and friends of addicts. Meetings take place on Tuesdays 2pm – 3.30pm one week and 6pm – 7.30pm the next – PLEASE contact prior to attending. SMART Recovery Meetings for Family and Friends affected by the addictive behaviour of a loved one Being in a close relationship with someone struggling with an addiction can be a frustrating, painful and sometimes lonely journey, in which it is easy to lose one’s bearings. The SMART Family & Friends programme invites participants to spend time concentrating on themselves and their goals, an area they may have been neglecting for some time. This includes looking at some of their habitual responses to their loved one and exploring whether these are helpful or not. Meetings take place on Tuesdays, alternating between evenings one week, from 6pm to 7.30pm and afternoons the next from 2pm to 4pm. SMART Family and Friends @ LEAP Open to families and friends of addicts, partnership meeting (worker-led), 10.30pm – 12.00pm (with 30minutes to socialise at the beginning. The SMART Recovery Family & Friends (F&F) Programme offers an evidence-based approach to support individuals with a loved one struggling with addiction. SMART F&F includes tools from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy in combination with the highly acclaimed CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) programme. The programme is designed to help those affected by a loved one’s addictive behaviour to learn new ways of dealing with the challenges, thoughts and emotions that they experience. The programme looks at areas including Positive Communication, Disabling the Enabling, Trust and Self Care. SMART F&F will help participants to view their own behaviours, challenge their thinking and find more effective ways to interact with their loved one, as well as learning ways to empower themselves. "A Life Worth Living" group Welcome to a Life Worth Living Group at Simpson House. We are running a group for people who struggle with depression or low mood and want to make a shift from the darkness of despair to the lightness of hope. The group evolved from the Choose Life group which began in Simpson House in 2012. The focus of the group: • To reach out to people who are isolated • To play a part in changing perceptions of mental health and addiction problems in society. • To make connections with other organisations to offer more choice to individuals • To help people build up their strengths and interests. Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) Sunday, 1pm- 2.30 Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) is a set of informal self-help groups made up of men and women with a common interest in working through the problems that co-dependency (inability to maintain healthy and nurturing relationships with ourselves and others) has caused in their lives. CoDA is based on AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and uses an adapted version of their Twelve Steps and Traditions as a central part of its suggested programme of recovery.
