SMART Recovery Meetings for Family and Friends affected by the addictive behaviour of a loved one
Being in a close relationship with someone struggling with an addiction can be a frustrating, painful and sometimes lonely journey, in which it is easy to lose one’s bearings.
The SMART Family & Friends programme invites participants to spend time concentrating on themselves and their goals, an area they may have been neglecting for some time. This includes looking at some of their habitual responses to their loved one and exploring whether these are helpful or not.
Meetings take place on Tuesdays, alternating between evenings one week, from 6pm to 7.30pm and afternoons the next from 2pm to 4pm.
If you would like more information about SMART Recovery and how it might help you, please contact Family Support - Addictions on 0131 622 6262 speak to a member of staff or Email: [email protected]

"A Life Worth Living" group
|
Welcome to a Life Worth Living Group at Simpson House. We are running a group for people who struggle with depression or low mood and want to make a shift from the darkness of despair to the lightness of hope. The group evolved from the Choose Life group which began in Simpson House in 2012.
The focus of the group:
• To reach out to people who are isolated
• To play a part in changing perceptions of mental health and addiction problems in society.
• To make connections with other organisations to offer more choice to individuals
• To help people build up their strengths and interests.

Adult children of alcoholics (Tuesday)
|
Tuesday, 7.15-9pm. Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional families UK is an anonymous program of women and men who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. We discover how childhood affected us in the past and influences us in the present. We meet with each other in a mutually respectful, safe environment and acknowledge our common experiences. We take positive action by practising the Twelve Steps, focusing on The Solution, and we find freedom from the past and a way to improve our lives today.
